Fruit Salad is a very yummy and easy way to get everyone to enjoy fruit with a meal, or as a snack. Simply cut up some of your favorite fruits in bite-sized chunks and add a simple yogurt dressing.

Here’s what you’ll need for your fruit salad:

  • A variety of fruit (such as apples, raisins, pears, oranges, bananas)
  • Something crunchy (such as sliced almonds, sunflower seeds, granola)
  • Yogurt (and I also use sour cream)
  • Optional: A touch of honey or sugar to taste

Fruit Salad Ingredients

Here I’ve used apples, bananas, pears, raisins, sunflower seeds, almonds, and even some shredded carrots. But don’t let that stop you from adding your favorite fruits or vegetables. I use different ones all of the time, depending on what I have available. Just be careful not to let any one ingredient overpower the rest.

My favorite mouthful is when I get a bite of apples with raisins. Amazingly, it tastes a lot like caramel apples — but without the caramel! Delicious!

You can also add granola or trail mix for a crunchy and diversified taste.

The dressing can be 100% yogurt, or if the flavor of yogurt is a bit strong for you, try a combination of yogurt and a small amount of mayonnaise or sour cream to mellow out the taste. The juices from the fruit will also combine with the dressing to make it indescribably delicious.

Here I used 2 parts of vanilla yogurt to 1 part of sour cream for the fruit salad dressing. If you’re using plain yogurt, a dash of honey or sugar will probably be needed.

The lovely glass bowl and bed of lettuce leaves serves as an appetizing way to present the fruit salad at the table. After all, presentation is half the meal! The better it looks the more appetizing it will be to everyone who eats it.
